2013 Fall Conference will be held in Marshall

This year's Department Fall Conference will be held at Marshall. Sessions will be held at the Ramada Inn and Marshall High School. The conference is The American Legion's annual school of instruction and a program is being developed that will include National Legion speakers. The conference will be streamed live via the Department's website: mnlegion.org. A pre-registration form is on page 2 of the Legionnaire.

Lodging for the conference should be handled by the attendees. Motels in the immediate vicinity of the conference include:

  • Ramada Inn, $90, 507-532-3221.

There will be a 1 p.m. gambling seminar at the Ramada on Thursday. Committee meetings will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Ramada. There will be a Department Executive Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ramada. Sessions for the Legion will begin at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday at the Marshall High School. The Legion offices will be at the high school also. There will be LEAD training all day on Friday. The post will be hosting specials throughout the conference and there will be special deals and events thoughout the community for those attending.  There will be shuttles between the hotels and the conference venues. Much of the American Legion portion of the conference will be at the high school, which is just east of the city proper.

This year's conference will feature the Walk, Run and Roll sponsored by the Department Auxiliary. It will be held Friday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m. at Marshall High School. There will be a $5 donation for the one-mile walk, and the money will go to the Military Family Assistance Center in Marshall. "I heard that some posts say only officers can come, but that's not true. If this organization is to grow, we need to lead, train, mentor and communicate effectively."
