Vietnam Honor Day slated June 13 A day has been set aside to honor Minnesota's Vietnam War era veterans at the Capitol. It will be held Saturday June 13 and will include a program, a model Vietnam Wall, and entertainment. Calendar picture contest inaugurated The Minnesota American Legion will have a Calendar Picture Contest with the winners published in the annual calendar. Veterans do all right at Legislature In a year of a huge budget deficit, veterans spending was maintained and there were even a few new initiatives that passed the Minnesota Legislature. Going to war in a glider Ray Nagell didn't volunteer for glider duty, but then nobody did. Talking Vietnam Blues Brad Stone didn't know much about the Marines when he signed up, but he knew where he was going. Letters Tell The Story The life and death of Theodore Stalemo of Fisher are told through a series of letters home during World War I. Surviving the Hell Ships Anton Cichy made it through the Bataan Death March and 2 1/2 years of captivity before he was put aboard a hell ship. One of the Brothers Herb Suerth joined Easy Company of the 506th PIR just before the Battle of the Bulge. Flying B-17s at age 21 Bob Polich of Deerwood flew 29 missions before his Flying Fortress was knocked out of the sky over Germany
