Minnesota still has three national chairmanships

The list of national appointments was announced recently, and Minnesota will again have three national chairmanships this year.
Dennis Henkemeyer of Bagley will chair the Magazine Commission and Bill Goede of Plainview will chair the Naval Affairs Committee.
In a new appointment, Chuck Kruger of Byron was named chairman of the Homeland Security and Civil Preparedness Committee.
Jeff Olson, who had served as chairman of the National Convention Corporation for many years will now be the National Commander's Representative on the Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission.
Past National Commander Dan Ludwig will serve on the Advisory Committee to the National Commander and on the Policy Coordination and Action Group. Ludwig will also serve as a director of The American Legion Endowment Fund Corporation.
Al Davis of Princeton will serve on the Americanism Commission. Serving as vice chairmen of the Americanism Council will be Mike Ash of St. Paul, Joe Bayer of Minneapolis, Ray DeZurik of Nisswa, Ray Galazen of Duluth, Richard Grobe of Millville and Dean Knutson of Dalton.
Mike Bredeck of Madison will be on the Committee on Education.
Serving as vice chairmen of the Distinguished Guests Committee will be Terry Buraas of Grand Forks, N.D., Rich Gosse of Wabasha, Rep. John Kline of Minnesota, Kenneth Nelson of Glenville, Terry Nelson of Baxter, Orv Otterness of North Branch, Paul Petersen of Champlin, Rep. Collin Peterson of Minnesota, Robin Picray of St. Paul, Mike Schaffer of Fulda, Don Schroedl of Minneapolis, E. Jerry St. Michael of Grand Rapids, Cal Van Horn of Morris, and Rep. Tim Walz of Minnesota.
Dennis Lewison of Adams will serve on the Employment Committee .
Peggy Moon of St. Joseph will serve as Vice President of the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation, Inc.
Roger Johnson of Jackson and Harvey Noble of Mankato will serve as vice chairmen of the Foreign Relations Council.
Don Hayden of LeCenter will serve as a consultant of the Internal Affairs Commission.
Richard Janssen of Richmond will serve as the National Commander's Representative on the Constitution and Bylaws Committee. Don Walser of Hutchinson will serve on the same committee.
Don Pankake of Hutchinson will serve on the Membership and Post Activities Committee. Roger K. Olson of Hutchinson will serve on the Resolutions Assignment Committee.
Virgil Persing of Columbia Heights will serve on the Legislative Liaison Committee. Marland Ronning of Maple Grove will serve as a consultant on the Aerospace Committee.
Tom Schottenbauer of St. Louis Park will serve as vice chairman of the Merchant Marine Committee.
Tom Burau of Fergus Falls, Tom Conway of Argyle, Vincent Lacer of Aurora, Denise Milton of Bagley and Wes Thompson of Sartell will serve as vice chairmen of the National and Homeland Security Council.
Tom Mullon of Eagan will serve as a consultant on the Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission. Bob Hirmer of Marshall will serve as a member of the Commission, and Bob Flaherty of Forest Lake will serve as a general member of the Commission.
Floyd Kumerow of Lamberton will serve on the National Cemetery Committee.
