Veterans Day on the Hill

Veterans Day On the Hill is Minnesota’s annual spring advocacy event in St. Paul, typically held in April. Organized by the Minnesota Commanders’ Task Force, the gathering brings together veterans, their families, and supporters to press for veteran-friendly policy at the State Capitol.

A typical program includes a morning gathering with coffee and a free lunch near the Capitol, a formal presentation or rally in the Capitol Rotunda, and a march from a nearby veterans’ building to the Capitol. Participants also meet directly with state legislators to discuss key issues such as veterans’ homelessness, mental health, property tax exclusions, and protections against predatory “claim sharks.”

The event is nonpartisan by design, meant to hold lawmakers accountable and advocate for concrete improvements in veterans’ lives. In recent years, participation has been strong, with hundreds of veterans and supporters joining the rally each spring.
