Legion Claims Office

Representation. Advocacy. Support for Veterans.

The American Legion’s Claims Office helps veterans and their dependents access VA benefits—especially for appeals, upgrades, and claims issues. If you’ve given the American Legion power of attorney, our office can represent you with VA claims work. (Learn more via our Code of Procedure pamphlet.)

How the Office Works
  • Focus: Appeals work — helping vets challenge decisions and pursue higher levels of review

  • Referral for initial claims: We often refer veterans to their County Veteran Service Officer (CVSO) for filing new claims or preparing initial paperwork

  • By appointment: We now operate on an appointment basis, but walk-ins are accommodated for intent-to-file paperwork

  • Remote access: For walk-ins needing appeal assistance, we use iPads and video conference rooms to connect you with a representative

  • CVSO lookup: Find your county’s CVSO via macvso.org or call (763) 682-7326
